Gas prices hit record high: will tariffs change for Ukrainians.


Gas prices in Ukraine have sharply risen to a record level over the past 2.5 years. According to Natural gas ExPro, on Wednesday, June 18, the cost of gas in the domestic market reached a peak value of over 31,550 hryvnias per thousand cubic meters including VAT, the highest price since November 2022.
According to ExPro quotes, gas prices range from 31,200 to 31,900 hryvnias per thousand cubic meters including VAT, with some offers even exceeding 32,000 hryvnias. Excluding VAT, the gas price varies from 26,000 to 26,583 hryvnias per thousand cubic meters, equivalent to $626-640 per thousand cubic meters or €51.1-52.3 per MWh.
The increase in gas prices began in May 2025 and has only been rising. Gas has become more expensive by 26% since the beginning of June, and prices rose 1.6 times in May. The rise in gas prices in the Ukrainian market is linked to the increase in prices at European hubs, where the cost on Wednesday exceeded €40 per MWh.
