Tariff Nightmare: Ukrainians Given One Piece of Advice on How to Save Themselves from the 'Utility Monster'.

The head of the Union of Consumers of Utility Services, Oleg Popenko, expressed his outrage over predictions of the 'natural extinction' of regions in Ukraine due to the crisis in the utility sector. He warns that the country is heading toward a mass exodus of the population from cities and villages.
'The natural path in our utility sector is for cities, towns, villages, microdistricts, and districts to simply die out.'
Popenko compared the development of Ukrainian cities to the American model, where some areas initially grow, and then degradation occurs. The expert noted the lack of competition between regions in Ukraine and condemned the central government for its detachment from the real problems of the population.
Popenko urged Ukrainians to focus on solving local problems and delegate leadership to more active public figures, emphasizing that the country has already lost the chance to return to the previous path, and change is inevitable.
The State of Utility Services in Ukraine
Earlier, Popenko warned about the critical state of the country's utility services, particularly issues with water supply, heating, and management of apartment buildings. He also pointed out the fact of nonexistent services being added to citizens' bills.
According to Popenko, the utility crisis could lead to serious consequences for the regions of Ukraine and cause additional population outflow from localities. It is important to pay attention to solving these problems locally and ensuring clear management to improve the situation in the country.
