A factory producing microchips caught fire in St. Petersburg.


On the night of May 29, a fire broke out at the 'Avangard' factory in St. Petersburg, which specializes in the production of radio electronics and microchips. The fire started on the fifth floor of the 6-story building and covered an area of 100 square meters. The fire has been localized, and efforts to extinguish it are ongoing. The cause of the incident is currently unknown.
The 'Avangard' factory is a scientific and production enterprise established in 1948. The company is engaged in the development and production of products in the field of microelectronics, microsystem technology, instrumentation, and power electronics. More than 900 people work at the factory. The products manufactured at 'Avangard' are used in air defense systems, particularly in the S-300 and Tor missile systems.
Thus, on the night of May 29, a fire occurred at the 'Avangard' factory in St. Petersburg, which is a key producer of radioelectronic components and is part of Russia's military-industrial complex.
