In Italy, a man attacked volunteers who were gathering signatures for Ukraine's accession to the EU.


In the city of Rimini, Italy, an attack occurred on volunteers from the local branch of the organization People for Ukraine, who were conducting a campaign to collect signatures for Ukraine's faster accession to the European Union. An unknown man tore down and threw the flags of Ukraine and the European Union on the ground, offending Ukrainians. The police intervened in the situation and took the data of the aggressor, but released him after reacting promptly.
«Everything happened very quickly, he damaged a bicycle of one of the participants and insulted Ukrainians. The police took his data and released him, but later many people approached us to sign the petition», - said Dmytro Shchukin, president of People for Ukraine and NAU.
Representatives of the coordination platform of Ukrainians abroad, Strichka, condemned the attack and emphasized the importance of responding to such incidents, which are a result of Russian propaganda. Earlier, European Commissioner Oliver Varhelyi expressed the opinion that, provided necessary reforms are implemented, Ukraine could become a member of the EU within the next five years.
In Italy, an unknown man attacked activists of People for Ukraine, who support Ukraine's accession to the European Union, insulted Ukrainians, and later managed to escape. But the attack did not stop the volunteers, who continued their work, demonstrating solidarity and support from local residents.
