15 thousand for a one-room apartment: expert on why Ukrainians remain under shelling.

The cost of renting housing in frontline areas is very high, complicating the evacuation process for residents. This information was provided by social expert Oleg Popenko. He said that renting a one-room apartment in Sumy costs from 15,000 hryvnias due to the lack of housing. Currently, more people live in Sumy than before the war, as people from adjacent regions gather there.
The expert noted that cities near the front line have become large military and logistics centers, leading to a sharp increase in real estate prices due to limited supply.
Popenko explained that to move from these regions, a person needs to find an apartment, find employment, and have the funds for it. There is housing available, but it is very hard to find, and there is not enough money, as renting an apartment requires at least 400-500 dollars, which exceeds the average salary in these regions.
Many residents of frontline areas lack the financial resources to relocate. The absence of state support in these regions causes people to remain under shelling.
Popenko also noted that there is unused housing in other regions of the country that could serve as temporary housing for displaced persons. For example, there is a dormitory in Svitlovodsk that is not being used but could accommodate about 23 families with basic living conditions.
According to the expert's calculations, creating living conditions for displaced persons requires about 10,000 dollars per person, which includes housing rental, connection of utilities, and meeting basic needs.
Popenko believes that although it is impossible to relocate all residents of frontline cities, an analysis can be conducted to consider each direction separately.
The expert also reminded about the car evacuation schemes and talked about who profits from Ukrainian drivers.
