Attempt to Set Fire to the Military Recruitment Center in Odesa Region — What We Know.


A 22-year-old resident of the Odesa region attempted to set fire to the building of the Military Recruitment Center and Social Support. However, it did not succeed — the container with a flammable substance he threw did not ignite, and he now faces imprisonment.
This was reported by the Main Department of the National Police in the Odesa region.
Details of the Case
The suspect attempted to set fire to the building of one of the district territorial recruitment and social support centers in Izmail by throwing a homemade device with flammable liquid into it. However, falling near the entrance to the premises, the container did not ignite. Therefore, no one was injured, and no property was damaged.
The police established that a 22-year-old local resident was involved in the crime. Law enforcement officers tracked down the young man at his residence and detained him. The suspect did not provide any explanation regarding his actions. A number of material evidence were seized from the crime scene and from the young man's house during the search, which were sent for examination.
What Punishment Awaits
The suspect was informed of the suspicion under Part 1 of Article 114-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (attempt to obstruct the activities of the Armed Forces of Ukraine). He faces up to 8 years of imprisonment.
