The demining of Kherson region may take decades.

The demining process is ongoing in Kherson region, but it may take several more decades. In the Berislav district, farmers are working in fields where explosives still pose a serious threat to their lives and crops.
Demining of Kherson
The demining efforts began after regaining control over the territory, but eliminating explosive objects may take several decades. The situation is particularly challenging in the Berislav district, where ongoing shelling and drone attacks from Russia result in significant losses for agricultural machinery and crops, leaving residents in danger.
“Even after a field was demined and work started on it, tomorrow a drone could land and not explode. Later, a combine or tractor comes to harvest, it runs into the drone, it explodes, the tractor catches fire, the wheat burns, and people suffer. There are countless examples of this in Berislav and other areas of Kherson that are closest to the Dnipro,” said Serhiy Khlan.
According to Serhiy Khlan, farmers in Kherson continue to work in danger, demonstrating extraordinary resilience and courage.
Recently, we reported on the situation where farmers were harvesting watermelons under shelling. It was also mentioned that the region's agrarians suffered large losses and did not receive state assistance.
The complex process of demining continues in Kherson, creating serious threats for farmers and their crops. This leads to significant losses and increases the danger for the residents of the area.
