The court seized 1.5 billion UAH of assets from the former MP of the 'Party of Regions'.

The court decided to seize the accounts of former member of parliament from the 'Party of Regions' and former head of the Kyiv City State Administration Volodymyr Makeyenko. Over 1.5 billion hryvnias have been transferred to the management of the Asset Recovery and Management Agency (ARMA). This was reported by the State Bureau of Investigations on July 18.
The court seized assets of Volodymyr Makeyenko
The court granted the request of the Office of the Prosecutor General and transferred more than 1.5 billion hryvnias to the Asset Recovery and Management Agency (ARMA). These assets were seized from accounts in a bank in the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg. The owner of these assets is Volodymyr Makeyenko, who, according to the investigation, evaded paying taxes in Ukraine, receiving income through offshore companies in other countries.
In September 2024, Makeyenko was charged with large-scale tax evasion. The SBI, along with the SSU, are currently investigating this case. The work is also ongoing to recover damages caused to the state.
The head of Poltava GOK, which belongs to Ferrexpo, will also be tried for tax evasion of 1.7 billion hryvnias. In addition, collaborators and Russians are trying to obtain recovery compensations.
Tax evasion is a serious offense, and the court reacts accordingly to such cases by seizing the assets of suspected individuals. The investigation into Makeyenko's case is ongoing, as well as the recovery of damages caused to the state. The importance of such court rulings is vital in the fight against corruption and the restoration of financial discipline in Ukraine.
