Ukraine needs to increase wind power capacities - Ukrenergo.

Ukrenergo's CEO Oleksiy Brekht claims that Ukraine needs to balance its energy system by increasing the capacities of wind power plants and maneuvering capacities. According to him, the volumes of solar and wind energy are incompatible, which poses a problem for the system's balance. Also, to ensure the system's stability, at least 1.5 GW of maneuvering capacities need to be built, of which 440 MW are planned to be constructed this year.
«We indeed have a significant imbalance, where for every 10 MW of wind generation, there is only 1 MW of solar generation,» – noted Brekht.
«We must absolutely balance this, as all documents we had always indicated the necessity for balance and the construction of wind energy alongside solar energy,» – he added.
Moreover, the head of Ukrenergo reminded that distributed green generation helped reduce the power deficit of the energy system during shelling of energy facilities. He emphasized that it contributed to stable energy supply for consumers. Renewable energy investors are urging lawmakers to expedite the construction of wind power plants through tax incentives. According to them, this will help improve energy supply for military enterprises and enhance the country's defense capability.
